Objectives and tools:
Let us begin with a simple question. What do we want the kids to take away from the chapter when they step out of the classroom?
We want them to understand that:
- Even though our Constitution lays down laws for equality, true equality will only come on the day we can begin to look past a person’s religion.
- There is a difference between religious and secular.
- Communities of love are larger than communities of religion.
Listing these points down is a useful way of orienting the students’ learning and our own preparation.
To make this possible, we have the following tools at our disposal:
- A suggested chapter progression plan.
- Four teachers’ handouts laying out unique experiential and concept learning activities.
- Two class handouts or notes on various topics.
- Two movies, one on secularism and another on Hindustan.
